The Pinnacle debuted as a fully functioning unit in the main event of the march 10th episode of AEW Dynamite. They debuted by attacking the Inner Circle starting a rivalry that would carry on until this very day almost three months later. During their feud they have headlined a PPV, had a never-before-seen match, and countless other matches, promos, and stand offs. But what has been the best moments from this long rivalry? I listed my top 5 below!
#5 A Celebration of the Inner Circle hosted by Eric Bischoff
This segment had a lot going on but in a good way. Eric Bischoff
hosted a celebration for the Inner Circle in case it would be the last time
they ever get to be in the ring together going into the stadium stampede match at
the upcoming Double or Nothing PPV. They showed a great video that really made
you remember all the memorable things the group has done while also making it
feel like they were going to lose at the PPV. From there we flipped to the back
where the Pinnacle had Chris Jericho’s long time friend Dean Milenko tied to
the goal post and beat up. A brawl ensues between the two teams which leads to
FTR piledriving Santana and Ortiz through tables. A chaotic but enjoyable
segment between the two factions.
#4 Blood and Guts
This should have been number one on this list. The problem I
have is every time I think about it all I can picture is the ending and everyone’s
thoughts on it. I was fine with it but could see how some thought it hurt the
match. But enough about the ending the rest of the match was mostly gold. Sammy
Guevara really had a nice showing for the most part, minus a botch in the
middle of the match, and all the other participants really played there part
well. MJF finally got his star making moment and really cemented the Pinnacle
as one of the best units in AEW.
#3 Stadium Stampede
While I don’t think this was as good as the original stadium
stampede, I thought it was pretty close and was in no way a bad match. A great
cameo by Urban Myer and the match emerging out of the field and into the ring
with all the fans is what made this match higher than blood and guts. Once
again Guevara came out of this match looking like an absolute star. This really
shows how highly Jericho and Tony Kahn think of the young star.
#2 Blood and Guts Parlay
This is the reason so many people were so excited for Blood
and Guts. Every member of both teams got the chance to cut a promo and every member
of both teams knocked it out of the park. I think its this segment right here
that shows why both factions have been feuding for so long.
#1 Inner Circle War Council
The Debut of the Pinnacle. As I said in the opening from the
moment MJF, Shawn Spears, Wardlow, and FTR stood together as one you knew it
was going to be great. The way they set this segment up to was great. Having
MJF kicked out of the Inner Circle only to immediately start an arguably superior
faction. The start of what has been a great rivalry that hopefully will only be
enhanced now that fans are being welcome back into arenas and will get to
witness the individual matches of Guevara vs Spears, MJF vs Jericho, FTR vs
Santana & Ortiz and Wardlow vs Hager.
