Top 5 Dream AEW CM Punk Opponents

So, CM Punk debuted in AEW last night. Somehow that seems like the craziest sentence ever while at the same time it feels completely believable and expected. It was one of the craziest scenes I have ever witnessed in professional wrestling and is easily the best debut in AEW history, possibly even wrestling history. But naturally now that were done with the debut all eyes look toward the future and the endless possibilities and dream matches Punk can have with the stacked AEW roster. So here I’ve decided to list 5 people I would absolutely die to see Punk just even have an interaction with let alone a match.

For this list I am leaving out Darby Alin as that’s already confirmed and no longer a dream. I’m also only sticking to singles opponents but would obviously love for him to find a partner and mix it up with teams like the Young Bucks, Lucha Bros and FTR.

#5 Ricky Starks

In CM Punks post show media appearance last night, he mentioned a variety of young talent that he really is high on and hopes to work with. Among that list was Ricky Starks and Will Hobbs from team Taz. My response to that. Hell Yes. Just put Starks and Punk in a ring with two mics for a 15 min segment and watch ratings go up. I feel like this would be the perfect feud for Punk post All Out as he could have a couple good matches with the team Taz group and work up his win record on his inevitable way to a title shot.

#4 MJF

A story that’s been brewing for almost two decades. Not really but they did take a picture together when MJF was young so clearly, he’s a fan. Like Starks just put both these guys in the ring together with a microphone and let them go. You can tell Punk’s influence on MJF in the way he goes about his promos with MJF even referring to his infamous pipe bomb promo a couple weeks ago on Dynamite. Would have this on a PPV and would elevate MJF to the moon if done right.

#3 Malaki Black

So, a feud with Malaki Black would be a lot different than the other two on the list up to this point but I still think it’d be terrific. When you have two guys as creative as Black and Punk squaring off against each other you know that there going to deliver. I think the in-ring action between the two, assuming that punk is as good as he always was, would be unbelievably entertaining.

#2 Miro

I don’t think there has been a more well put together wrestler than Miro since he defeated Darby Allin to win the TNT title. His look, promos, and in ring have been flawless and arguably has the best character work and presentation in all of wrestling right now. So, what better way to reward him for his great work than to put him in with the newest biggest draw in the company.

#1 Kenny Omega

Do I really need to explain why Omegas number 1? I think for almost anyone who sings with AEW Omega is on the top of there list of people they want to work with and for good reason. Not only is it a no brainer that these two must have a match but I think Kenny Omega may be having the best stretch of his career this year with his recent matches against Jungle Boy, The Dark Order, Christian, Dante Martin, Cassidy, and Pac. Omegas has more incoming as well with Hangman coming back in the future a possible Daniel Bryan debut and his rematch with Christian Cage at All Out. By the end of this year Omega will be a lock for wrestler of the year and hopefully a feud with Punk will cement that. A PPV main event match at Full Gear sounds lovely.
